So Far So Good! 👍🏼😌
I always wanted a Mazda. Recently, I got married and had a baby boy & a couple of friends of mine who own or lease a Mazda recommended them to me. I just leased the Mazda 2021 CX-30 and I absolutely love it. Upon delivery of the truck, I didn’t realize that the package I had chosen doesn’t come with a remote start. Now that I have a baby, I figure for the winters it would come in handy. I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t in my package but while doing some research to find out who installs remote starts in my neighborhood (I’m from Staten Island NY).. I read a post about the Mazda app having the remote start, which saved me $150 to have a mechanic install. I’ve been using it for a little over a month and it’s been amazing. Us New Yorkers know how frigid the winters in NY can be. You can compare NY winters to Game of Thrones - winter is coming 😅 so I must say... so far so good! Keep it up Mazda because you just gained a loyal customer with me 🎉
Intuitive, feature rich, and NO SUBSCRIPTION FEES!!
It has everything that I need in a mobile app that works for my car. The speed of app is important for me. Navigating around is a breeze, and I’m able to login without any fuss with the Face ID. It’ll log every single malfunction, or status warning so I’m able to determine if it needs to be serviced. My only gripe is that after sending a command, it could take over a minute for my vehicle to execute it. The best thing of all though with how Mazda did things is the fact that I don’t need to pay a stupid subscription fee to use the features of the mobile app. Other manufacturers such as Toyota requires their customers to pay to unlock or start the vehicle from the app. This strategy is so refreshing to me that I would choose another Mazda in the future over another automaker simply because of that decision. Why should I be required to pay for a feature that I’ve already purchased when purchasing the vehicle?!? That reeks of greed and its a shame for that to happen. Anyway, I’m very satisfied with the mobile app itself and it’s a testament to how well Mazda’s decisions have their customers in mind.
Subpar app
The app is fine for the basics that Mazda offers (when the app WORKS). Things I've notice that are lacking and don't work consistently are: 1) instructions from the manual are difficult to find (manual is very hard to navigate and not phone screen friendly, but a google search did me wonders a few times), 2) failure in refreshing your vehicle "status" (which is the whole point of the app??, lately have had to redownload the app or the refresh function is stuck for hours - currently unable to refresh my status from 4 hours ago now with multiple restarts and such), and 3) the app sometimes, flat out, won't log in, and again, I will close the app multiple times or redownload the app. :/
Also, app non-urgent "notifications", once in the app, are really counterintuitive, hard to get to and clear out. Annoying.
When functioning, the app is great for starting my Mazda, locking, and alerting me of anything I missed, all remotely. But it's been very patchy to access the app and stay reliable for "status" from the get go. I do love being able to check in with my "car lock" and the alerts when I don't fully close a car door or the remote lock doesn't work.
